It has a been a whirlwind these last few months! March first we sold our house and packed up everything we owned (what didn’t get hauled to the dump, and moved our little family of 5 1/2 to Bellingham, WA.  It was a long long trek from Texas to Washington.  We are in love with out new town though. I’m not sure when the feeling that I’m on vacation is going to wear off.   The people are so nice, the town is alive with activities and culture, and the scenery is stunning.  Along with that stunning scenery is an abundance of amazing portrait spots! Lucky me, my oldest is turning 8 and in need of a new canvas for the livingroom wall.  I knew I needed to get these portraits in before baby #4 comes. I’m due in one month!  So, I took him out today and got a few pictures in.  It is so fun to go out with him now, as he gets older.  He decided how to do his hair, and the stair shot was all his idea!  So here are a few shots of my biggest in our new town…

My Girls’ Portraits

Posted on January 26, 2012

I cannot believe how fast my little girls are growing up! My littlest is turning 4 next week, and my middle just turned 6 earlier in the month.  Time has flown by, but their beauty inside and out grows each day.  I had the idea for this little spot in some trees, and envisioned the outfits and then found both the spot and the clothes to match my vision as best I could.  Here are a few, I haven’t edited them all. I am going to get a large canvas of the one of them together in the trees and hang it in their room :)

So, better late than never right? It’s been a busy few months, and I’m just getting around to sharing my cuties in their costumes. My littlest is Katara, the waterbender from Avatar, the Last Air Bender. She would tell you that she is the Katara from the cartoon, not the horrid movie. I’ll never forgive M. Night Shyamalan for butchering one of our most beloved shows.
My middle was Rapunzel, inspired of course, by Tangled, which is actually a wonderful movie. If you haven’t seen it, SEE IT!  I cried (like the first 5 times I saw it……)
And last, but not least, my eldest pulled of an awesome version of Harry Potter. The hair is all his.

Family portraits at Grapevine Train yard

Posted on November 30, 2011

The last family portrait of my family was taken over 4 years ago! So I was excited to be able to trade family sessions with a fellow local photographer friend recently, check out her blog here http://lauriemelissaphotography.wordpress.com/#

We headed out to Grapevine’s vintage train yard for a few family shots of her family. She has 5 children, and I have to admit I was a bit nervous. Her kids were SO good, you could tell they were a photographer’s children!  She and her hubby were too cute, and obviously still very much in love.

My baby is almost 4! Time sure flies. It has been quite a while since I took any real pictures of her so I took her to downtown Denton to get a few shots in before lunch. Normally midday is not the best time to take portraits, but with an urban setting you can work around it quite well.  I think we got a few great shots of her to replace the 2 year old pictures of her on our walls :)

Newborn Portraits for a friend {denton}

Posted on August 23, 2011

No, I’m still not taking clients ;)   but when a friend of mine had her baby I just had to take some newborn pictures.  She had taken my maternity, birth and newborn pictures 3 1/2 years ago when my youngest was born. I wanted to return the favor, and get an excuse to cuddle a tiny baby <3  Here are a few from her session!

Newborn and Maternity

Posted on July 23, 2011

I just realized I had never posted more from my sister’s maternity and newborn sessions! Here are a few more of her and her sweet baby boy!

This was my second attempt at bluebonnet pictures this year. Even though I’m pretty sure it’s a requirement for citizenship in Texas, I have managed to get away without taking them since Archer was a baby! This year I was determined to do it.   I’m still not 100% happy but they’re definitely better than the first try!  It’s hard when the middle child freaks out over every bug she sees!

Down on the farm

Posted on April 5, 2011

We recently made a trip with some friends to the local farm where we get our milk.  I LOVE that my children are only one step from their food, that they actually see the farmer who milks the cow for them.  These aren’t really edited very much beyond sizing for the internet, so forgive my laziness! Hopefully you can just enjoy my pictures in their natural state sometimes :)

Long term pause

Posted on March 2, 2011

Hi friends of Ramona Laird Photography!

Let me just say, I LOVE photography. I love photographing people.  I don’t think anything can compare to capturing an image of a person that reflects the soul inside.  Something is more important to me though, and that something  is my family.  My children are small, and very needy still.  I came to the realization that my family was coming second, and that just isn’t where I feel my priorities should be.  God gave me this family to nurture and raise up with love. They’re not going to be this small for long, and I don’t want to ever look back and regret missing them grow up.

For now, I am putting my business on a pause.  Think of it as a big long refreshing breath, while I take care of my first priority.

I will most definitely still be clicking away!  I could never put down my camera.  I will still be posting here on my blog as well!  I am just not going to be accepting clients.

I hope, after a pause- and my children have grown more independent- that I can have the time to begin sharing my work with others again!

Thanks for being there for me, giving me support and encouraging me!

much much love

Ramona
